More bedding ideas.

We still haven’t decided on bedding but here’s hoping that we get to that soon. Steve and I are supposed to sit down and really look at bedding so we can move forward with that, and while I want him to be involved with these decisions as much as he wants to be, I’d really appreciate him to be on my Iwanttodothisrightnow timetable and not on his wevegotsomuchtime timetable haha.

Either way, here’s some of the ideas I’ve got going on right now. I love so much bedding and it’s all so cute that it’s really hard to decide.

I like the sweetness of this set. I really lean towards pink and brown, but something about this set just keeps grabbing my attention.

These three are definitely the pink and brown that I really like. I like how they have simple designs, but aren’t so much of a theme that the stuff I have in mind will go well.

This last one is really kind of simple and clean and I like that a lot. It has a little brown but isn’t as overwhelming as the above three. And I found some really cute decals that would go pretty well with this set so there’s that.

Nursery Set

We’ve been taking our sweet time this summer getting ready for baby girl. We’re excited, but between some travel we had, Steve’s baseball, and life in general we just haven’t had much time to do anything. Plus we’re still working on our basement so the guest room (nursery) isn’t cleared out so it isn’t like we have an actual space to start her room.

My parents offered to buy us the nursery furniture which is a HUGE help for us! That stuff can get expensive! Mom and I decided we’d go do some browsing this coming Saturday but I was over there for dinner and hanging out on Tuesday and we checked some stuff out online so we could get an idea for where we wanted to go on Saturday. I found a set I really liked so we decided we’d definitely head to Babies-R-Us to see if they had it in store. The whole set was fairly reasonable price wise but I wasn’t sure if we really needed the changing table so we were leaning towards just having a crib and dresser and maybe adding the changing table later if we decided we really wanted it. And if we had the room in her room because those rooms are kind of small.

On Wednesday I decided to read some reviews on the BRU site about the set just to see what other people were saying and I realized they were having a pretty incredible sale that day! The set was marked down over $100 so I called my mom because the sale was only for that day and only for a couple hours. The reviews were good and I talked with Steve and he liked it and was ok with the set as long as it was real wood (it is) and as long as it was good (it is – as far as we can tell, it’s got 4 out of 5 stars on the site and all the reviews seem really good so we’re comfortable with that. Plus, we can return it if we decide we don’t like it!!)

So. We have furniture! We were going to have it all shipped to our house but the shipping was outrageous! It basically negated all the savings we were getting so we decided on store pick up. Unfortunately, only the dresser was available for store pick up but it turns out that was the much heavier piece and was the reason for the outrageous shipping price. So the crib and changer will be here sometime next week (according to UPS the changer will be here by end of day Monday and the crib by end of day Tuesday). We’ll pick up the dresser from my parents this weekend and then by next week we’ll actually have her whole bedroom set in our possession!

Now if only we had a clean room to put it all in haha… oh well, one step at a time right?!

Pregnancy Update: Week 25

How Far Along: 25 weeks. I’m almost out of the 2nd trimester. 3 more weeks which I’m sure is going to go by really fast.

Size of baby: According to my what to expect app… she’s the size of an eggplant, just like last week, but this week she’ll be measuring at 9.2 inches and about 2lbs. So a little bit of a bigger eggplant this week!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I actually haven’t weighed myself in like a week, so I’m guessing still about the same 20lbs. Maybe more because today I actually feel bigger than I did yesterday. Either way, I still look small according to most people which makes me feel so good and that’s basically what I’m going on at this point. I look good and feel good so I must be doing something right.

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. Some things pre-pregnancy don’t fit while others do. It’s hit or miss so I just try not to get my hopes too high if I’m trying to wear something pre-pregnancy these days.

 Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: More and more. Steve’s been feeling her at night while we’re cuddling, but she’s not as active during the day if I’m being really active. If I’m being pretty still then she’s more active. I can “see” her move though which is pretty cool and the other night we were lying in bed and I’m pretty sure her head was trying to escape my belly cause it was sticking up a bit on the one side and it felt like she was punching me haha.

Sleep: I can and I do but it isn’t all that comfortable or consistent. I’m up a couple times at night and sometimes it’s hard to get back to sleep but other times I don’t have trouble. It just depends on the day I guess.

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach, not having to pee every 30 minutes, being comfortable all the time, being able to get up off the floor with ease. I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world, but I will be glad when I can do things like a normal person again.

Cravings: Lots of fruit, still have that sweet tooth but it’s not quite as bad. Really though I’m just hungry a lot so I eat often because if I eat a big meal then I actually feel uncomfortable so I try to just eat little things all day long to keep me feeling full all day.

Aversions: Nothing. Bring on the food!

Symptoms: Nothing. I’m doing really well and enjoying this more and more at this point.

Labor Signs: None!

Belly Button in or out: It’s basically out at this point. I woke up today and it was already out where before it was only really out at the end of the day.

Wedding rings on or off: Band on unless it’s super hot then I don’t wear it in case I have some swelling. Engagement ring has been off for weeks now.

Best moment this week: Um, I don’t know really. Nothing super exciting has happened, but I did get out o the house a little more this weekend so that’s always nice.

Looking forward to: Mom and I are going browsing for furniture this weekend and I’m pretty excited for that. I really want to get this nursery underway so I’m hoping we can get a move on with that here very, very soon!!

I’m feeling very much like I’m smuggling a basketball these days. And looking that way too!

Buddy hasn’t wanted to be in any photos lately, but he jumped up on me and I couldn’t resist this little bit of belly and mostly cute puppy shot!

Pregnancy Update: Week 24

How Far Along: 24 weeks. SIX MONTHS. Mind. Blown.

Size of baby: She’s the size of an eggplant this week. Weighing in at 1.7lbs and measuring at 9inches.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I’m still up about 20lbs. Went to the doctor last Friday and she said my weight was spot on so that’s good news.

Maternity Clothes: The same – I’m wearing them because I have them and also because my pre-pregnancy shorts don’t fit and it is too hot not to wear shorts, but I can wear shirts and anything that isn’t shorts of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe.

Gender: BABY GIRL!! Movement: She’s moving more and more lately. Still not one for putting on a show for other’s so all that movement is still just for me. Which makes it a little more special!

Sleep: I’m not having trouble getting to sleep or getting sleep in general, but it is becoming more and more uncomfortable sleeping on my sides. And it’s more and more interrupted due to my bathroom breaks.

What I miss: Wine and sushi. I could really go for a Philadelphia Roll right about now that’s for sure. I also am missing my ability to eat seafood like I want to. I can still have some, but I could go for a good crabfest right about now and I certainly couldn’t enjoy that the way I normally would so I’ll sadly just be passing for this summer.

Cravings: Fruit has been a big deal lately. I just can’t get enough. And I always want pizza, but that isn’t necessarily a new thing it’s just a more constant thing.

Aversions: Nothing so it’s basically just bring on all the food!

Symptoms: I’m feeling pretty good with the exception of some aches and pains but I expect those so I’m ok with them… though I will be glad when they are gone!

Labor Signs: Nope!

Belly Button in or out: It’s still in… but only in the morning, by the evening it’s pretty much out so my guess is that in a few weeks it’ll be all the way out all the time.

Wedding rings on or off: Same – band on, engagement ring off.

Best moment this week: Hearing her heartbeat at the doctor (last week) and her moving more and more. I’ve also started putting my ipod on my belly and playing her music. So far she’s a country girl like her Mama!

Looking forward to: I’m really looking forward to sharing her movement with Steve. And we’re going to sit down and really think about what we want to register for so it’s like shopping without spending any money so that should be fun!

Pregnancy Update: Week 23

How Far Along: 23 weeks! Only 17 to go!!

Size of baby: She’s the size of an ear of corn!

Measuring at about 8.5 inches and weighing it at about 1.5lbs. And according to one of the pregnancy emails I get she should be doubling her weight in the next 4 weeks. That’s crazy, but amazing at the same time.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I’m up about 20lbs at this point. I feel like that’s a lot for still having 17 weeks to go, but we’ll find out on Friday if the doctor is ok with it. It doesn’t look like I’ve gained that much, but I definitely feel round

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. Even with all that weight gain I can still fit in my regular clothes – with the exception of my shorts which is super since it’s summer and it’s hot and I want to wear them but I did pick up some maternity shorts so that’s nice

Gender: BABY GIRL!! Movement: She’s on the move a lot more, but she still doesn’t like to show off so whenever I lay my hand on my belly (or when Steve does it) she stops what she’s doing. She is definitely my stubborn child haha.

Sleep: I’m getting ok sleep, I really hate sleeping on my side but it is what it is. I still wake up once or twice a night for the bathroom but I’m able to go back to sleep right away so that’s good.

What I miss: Sleeping on my stomach. I’ve always been a stomach sleeper and this sleeping on my side business is for the birds. Plus my hips are so sore so that makes it extra fun.

Cravings: I’ve had a thing for fruit lately where I just can’t get enough. Big change from the needing cookies or candy all the time. I also have really wanted pizza the last couple days.

Aversions: Nothing at this point. Anything is fair game!

Symptoms: I’m feeling pretty good overall just some soreness in the hips from sleeping on my side but other than that I’m enjoying being pregnant.

 Labor Signs: No thank you!!

Belly Button in or out: It has its moments but it is certainly on its way out. Though I have been saying that for weeks so maybe it won’t actually come out, but with 17 weeks left I highly doubt I’m not going to end up with an outie.

Wedding rings on or off: Band on, engagement ring off.

Best moment this week: Laying in bed in the morning feeling the dance party in my belly.

Looking forward to: Doctor’s appt on Friday and hearing her heartbeat (hopefully!)

Finishing the basement

Last March I wrote about how we built a storage closet in our basement. And by “we” I certainly mean my husband and my father because they are the handy men in my life. We’ve had plans to finish our basement since before we moved in. We specifically did not spend the $20,000 to have the builders finish our basement because that is OUTRAGEOUS and we know it doesn’t cost that much to finish a basement. Plus, if we do it ourselves we can do it the way we want. For instance, the storage closet. None of the builder finished basements have any real storage and for us that’s a big deal. Where would I put all of our holiday decorations? No freaking clue for real.

Anyway….so we’re finally at the point that we’re finishing the rest of the basement. We haven’t really been in a rush because we didn’t really need the extra space but then we found out we were pregnant and there was a sudden fire under our behinds! We only have a 3 bedroom house and one bedroom is a guest room which we don’t really want to lose. And the other room is our office, which we need but we don’t exactly need it upstairs taking up a bedroom. So we’re moving our office to the basement….which means we need a basement that is finished!

Steve started out by framing the entire basement a few months ago. They had some downtime from work and we had the wood just piled up in our basement so he framed us up. Which made me happy because that meant that wood was moved from being just a pile in the middle of our basement haha!

And then work got busy, we got busy, and life got in the way. But recently, my dad came over on one of their random days off and was all “ok let’s go get us some drywall!” And so they did. And then they only did the ceiling and my dad was like “ok, you guys have fun finishing this up this weekend and I’ll be back next week.”

Drywall work is really hard on his body and it wasn’t until after I had done some of it that I realized how hard it was on the body so I was so, so grateful that he’d gotten the ceiling done because I have a feeling that the ceiling is WAY harder than the walls are.

It was taking the two of us a LONG time to get all that done and a couple of our bad ass friends offered to come help us and we very, very gratefully took them up on their offer.

It made the entire thing go SO much faster – what would have literally taken us an entire day only took a few hours with their help. SUCH BIG HELP! And it was more fun to work as a group.

They’re so awesome that they volunteered to come back over when we got the rest of the drywall (for the other half of the basement) to help us with that. And that half is bigger! Seriously, we have some awesome friends.

Even Buddy wanted to help with the drywall, but he really wasn’t that big of a help. He sure did try though haha!

Since we got everything hung my dad and Steve have been working on the tape, mudding, and sanding part. I can’t really help with that because I don’t know the first thing about taping or mudding and Steve didn’t want me really in the basement at all when they were sanding so I haven’t been much help since we got it all put up.

Right now, half of our basement is finished minus the paint and the door handles but we’ll actually get all that stuff done when we finish the other half…. In the next couple weeks. Our goal is to have the rest of the drywall hung by July 14th. So the plan is that by the end of July we’ll have a completely finished basement so we can move the office and start the nursery. We’ll see how that works out for us between Steve’s work schedule and his baseball schedule it could be pretty tight but we’re hopeful nonetheless.   We’ve got a busy summer in front of us, but I’m pretty excited to have this finally done.

Pregnancy update: Week 22

How Far Along: 22 weeks. I don’t think I’m ever not going to be blown away with how fast these weeks are ticking by.

Size of baby: She’s the size of a papaya measuring at 8in and weighing in at about 1.2lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Up a few more pounds. I’m actually starting to think I’m gaining too fast based on the fact that I still have 18 more weeks to go and if I gain a pound a week I’ll have gained more than I need to. So yeah. Oops.

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. It’s weird that I have gained so much yet my regular clothes still fit. I mean, I cannot button my regular pants so I wear those with the BeBand but my shirts fit. I’m definitely all belly so I guess that helps the regular clothes fit still. I don’t mind cause I don’t really have a ton of maternity clothes since I haven’t really grown out of my regular clothes so I just bought a couple things here and there and sprinkle those throughout my wardrobe.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: Yes and I can feel her from the outside when she lets me but it’s like she knows when my hand graces my belly and she’ll stop all movement. I’d really like to share her with Steve because I know he really wants to feel her but that’s it because I’m not looking forward to all the belly touching that will come when she stops hiding her movement.

Sleep: I pretty much sleep like a rock and only get up once or twice to go to the bathroom. I am definitely using my body pillow because I think I’d be really uncomfortable without it.

What I miss: Can you guess? Wine and sushi. I just want them so bad but I’m not willing to risk my girl’s health for even a little bit of it.

Cravings: Sweets of all kinds. I think I have a problem haha.

Aversions: Nothing really so that’s good. And bad because that means nothing is off limits anymore. Symptoms: Just some aches and pains. And those crazy hormones are definitely taking over.

 Labor Signs: No thank you!

Belly Button in or out: Still in. Sort of. It’s almost out so I’m guessing since I just keep growing out front that it’ll be fully out here in the next couple weeks.

Wedding rings on or off: Band on, engagement ring off. It’s just easier and less painful that way.

Best moment this week: Being with friends celebrating the love and marriage of 2 of our closest friends. And feeling this sweet girl move around more inside me.

Looking forward to: Finishing our basement so we can get a move on with her nursery.

Buddy is all about being around when we take our pictures but he hasn’t really had an interest in actually being in them lately. He jumps up on my belly all the time….until you break out the camera and then he wants nothing to do with it.
