I recently did an about me post but this one is 5 things I love about myself.
I suspect I’m going to have trouble with this.
Not because I don’t love things about myself…but I have a hard time singing my own praises. So… here goes nothing…
I’m strong. Physically I mean. I enjoy working out and I enjoy being strong. I’m skinny by nature, but I’m strong because I work at it.
21 Day Fix. My workout of choice.
I’m determined. Damn determined. If I really want something I’m going to try my hardest to get it. Because even if I fail at least I will always know I tried as hard as I could.
I’m funny. Or at least I think I am. Either way. I like to laugh and I laugh a lot.
I love to love. My family. My friends. If I love you, you know it.
I don’t let just anyone ‘in’… but once you’re in. You’re in. And if you can put up with everything that comes from being my friend. I love you for it. And I always will.
I’m honest. For better or worse. I’m honest. If you want to know what I’m thinking, ask. But be prepared to not like my answer. It’s not that I don’t have a filter (I don’t always…) but I believe that everyone deserves to know the truth. I want to know the truth from you and I want to give you the respect that you deserve by telling you the truth. Nothing good comes from a lie. (plus… I’m a terrible liar. and secret keeper. so I’m telling you the truth either with my words or with my face because you can see a lie all over it lol)
And there you have it. Five random things about me.
What are some random things about you? What do you love about yourself? What makes you happy about being you? I’d love to know!
So I’m a day late on this one which means you’re getting two posts today. You should feel special. Because life has been BUSY which is exactly why I got all behind and then forgot and well…here we are now.
Today’s Blog Everyday in July prompt is three pictures.
Three. Ha. I have about 1,300 on my phone. Alone. And that’s only the ones that don’t get removed after being backed up to my computer to make room for more. So I think I’ve got three photos for you.
First up. A selfie.
Nana & I.
Quite possibly my favorite selfie ever. This was taken about 2 months before she passed away. I miss her every day, but I hope I’m making her proud.
Now that I’ve got you crying.
Here’s one I took…
Steve & Sydney
These two. They are my heart.
And now one of anything.
Naturally I choose nature. Because it’s one of my favorite things to photograph.
The ice storm we had in January added a little something to the landscape outside my office.
And there you go. Three pictures. Out of like a million. This was a little harder than I thought it would be.
I’ve seen a couple of these floating around and let me tell you… this is hard. I take a lot of pictures but remembering to take one every hour is hard. I only made it from 6am to 8pm because I forgot to take one at 9pm and then I just gave up. I also skipped a couple hours during the day at work cause… well, I was basically doing the same thing all day and how many photos of that can you really have?
6 AM. Yes. AM.
I hit the road at 6am. Baby in the back seat and a full cup of coffee is basically how I start my day. I could have taken a 5am picture but that would just be a zombie picture and no one needs to see that.
7:00 and I’m in the office and enjoying my the quiet of my office for about an hour.
Morning snack. I had to move my papers to make room for my snack but they’re right off to the side don’t worry haha.
Doing some scanning. It had to be done and I needed some time out of my desk chair.
Breakfast comes early and so does lunch. Some chicken tenders and fries.
And this is basically what my desk looked like from noon until three when I peaced out for the day.
Right before heading out.. to get my hair cut.
This is the after. I’m pretty much in love.
(hair appt was at 3:30, took about an hour, so there’s no 4pm photo)
Grabbing some dinner with the hubs and the inlaws. This is some seriously good pizza.
Heading west over the mountain towards home. Finally. 13 hours after I left home.
Watching the water go down the drain. She loves bath time.
And then it was bed time for the tiny tot and then I got myself pretty much ready for bed and some TV watching with the hubs. It wasn’t much more exciting than seeing my desk all day but it was just what I needed at the end of today.
So today’s link up is about our favorite apps. I really don’t use many apps except for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. So… that’s probably boring to write about because who doesn’t use those? Right.
I do quite enjoy the Cartwheel app. If you haven’t used it you’re missing out on random 5% (or more) discounts on stuff at Target. Couple that with your Red Card and you’re in discount city. And who doesn’t love another reason to go to Target.
I like Diptic for my photos. It’s what I use when I put my pictures in those side-by-side (etc.) frames. I know there are a lot of those photo combining apps out there but this is the one I use.
What else… hmm. This one is good. Baby Connect. It’s fantastic. We used it in the early months with Sydney to track her diapers/food/sleep. You & your spouse (or whoever) can connect them so if Mom puts baby down and then leaves to run errands while Dad is at home he doesn’t have to wonder how long baby has slept or when s/he ate last. We long since stopped tracking that stuff for her because we really don’t need to, but we still use it to keep track of her doctor appointments (both sick and well) so we know what we talked about with the doctor at the last visit and if we had any concerns to watch out for until the next visit. It’s got a list of her shots, her milestones, her stats (weight, height, etc). It’s just really helpful. You can add more than 1 kid too which is convenient if you have more than 1 kid. I’m glad we found it.
So there’s that. Those are 3 of my apps that I like and use on a fairly regularly basis. I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys like as far as apps go.
Nineteen Eighty Two.
The year I was born. Thirty-two years ago. Which is unbelievable. I cannot believe I’m going to be 32 in November. I feel like just yesterday I was a fresh faced teenager; recent high school graduate; ready to take over the world. In reality? That was 13 years ago. My husband and I have been together for 10 years. I can’t even wrap my head around all of that. Either way. Today we’re talking about baby Carrie and the year she was born.
Baby Carrie. 1 day old.
What a cute baby I was.
I was born on the Saturday after Thanksgiving which would lead to a lifetime of Thanksgiving weekend birthdays. This year for instance? My birthday IS Thanksgiving. So that’s awesome. (so was my 21st, for the record, that wasn’t all that awesome).
Ironically, Cold Sunday happened. Which plunged temperatures across much of the United States far below existing all-time record lows. So let’s hope that this year’s super cold front won’t happen again for a really long time (disclosure: I have no idea if it’s happened since then but I’m going with no so I can pretend it only happens once every 30 or so years)
Anyway. 1982. What was life like 32 years ago? Well let’s find out.
- Ronald Reagan was President
- San Francisco won the Super Bowl
- St. Louis won the World Series
- The Islanders won the Stanley Cup
- The Lakers won the NBA Championship
- The Commodore 64 8-bit home computer was launched.
- The World’s Fair was in Knoxville, TN.
- The Falklands War happened.
- Cal Ripken, Jr. plays the first game of his streak of 2,632 consecutive games
- The World Cup was in Spain that year. (Italy beat West Germany)
- The first CDs are released to the public (in Germany) & Sony released the first CD player.
- The first emoticons are posted.
- Disney opens Epcot.
- The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was dedicated in DC.
- Michael Jackson releases Thriller.
- The first U.S. execution by lethal injection is carried out in Texas.
Some famous births (besides mine, obviously).
- Catherine & William, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
- Jodie Sweetin
- Cobie Smulders
- Seth Rogen
- Kirsten Dunst
- Anne Hathaway
And there you have it. There’s a little bit of 1982.
Currently I am…

(side note…don’t know how to embed videos in posts…should probably learn that sooner or later)
wishing… for a few specific things that I’d rather not discuss here.
hoping… for some good things to happen.
